Reason: I would like to help add content to metawikitide and I believe it will be helpful for me to have administrator. I would be able to import pages, templates, and modules, and mark things for translation and such. This wiki needs some work to get going, and I'd like to be a part of that. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 02:26, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

PS, if there were established requirements I wouldn't meet them, but then again nobody would because of how new this farm is. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 02:33, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Questions for candidate

  1. Requirements are not only absent, the very bar for what they should be is in flux. Imo the new priorities should be be proactivity and communication: until a clearer process exist, make yourself integral to the building of new infrastructure. I know you've never been on discord but being aware of its proceedings would help, as they inform a lot of what's gone on so far. Translation is an overengineered mess based on Miraheze experience, and there has been no will to continue it. If continued it will likely go by the last RfCs from Miraheze on the matter to greatly limit its use. I think it would even be safe to simply remove this markup for the time being. Imo what is most useful is not imports of modules and templates, but homebrew development and review of policy and layout as these are the things that will have lasting effect. Simply importing right off Miraheze is an easy step back into its complacency. Hard work with efforts in collaboration should prevail over mass imports that only makes it look like it's going somewhere but which have not at all been thought through or rethought. As a founding/native admin (candidate), you set the tone. As someone who's taken a more critical role on this project, this is the line of thing I would hope for. If it wants to be different from Miraheze it needs to start by thinking this stuff through and not taking the quickest or cheapest solutions. Let me know what you think...
I agree with that assessment. Still, imports of some templates and modules can be useful. MacFan4000 (Talk Contribs) 16:16, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Reason: There have been no established requirements for a request like this so it isn't really clear how to judge it, but I'm submitting this request along with MacFan4000 in order to help get Meta up and running. I've been regularly active with things like documentation, and I hope to continue that work if I am appointed as a sysop. Additionally, I have been a major proponent of drafting what will become WikiTide's Content Policy, along with several other policies that will eventually be incorporated into WikiTide's structure. Previous to WikiTide, I served on Miraheze as a global interwiki administrator and Meta patroller before my resignation in early June. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Piccadilly (Wiki Creator)

I realize that I have just joined this wiki, but I have some experience with wikis in general and would like to help out here by becoming a wiki creator. I have read the Content Policy on Miraheze and would base my decisions on that until WikiTide has its own content policy. Thank you for your consideration. I don't think this can be actioned until we have a set of policies, so this is on hold. Also we should get some boilerplates. BrandonWM (talkcontributionsglobalrights) 04:36, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
This is a formulative time on Wikitide, so you are putting yourself forward as a founding wiki creator. As implied above this means you help set the tone. One thing that's come up a lot is not doing things in quite the same way, not falling in the same tired habits that caused a thousand little messes the last time. Overly liberal wiki approvals caused many trickle down issues and there was limited, sometimes absent communication. There is already a strong desire to make the content policy more limited to truly avoid a long experience of problematic wiki creations. So naturally, just basing of Miraheze policy would not be best here. In this case there are probably more than enough people who can create wikis to do what's needed for now as the ones who can make wikis are also privy to the ever changing, hopefully evolving particulars. I would suggest avoiding this request until the structure and need of wiki creators is better defined. --Raidarr (talk) 08:52, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Also I just remembered. You are a repeat customer as I would say on Miraheze, and you know what I'm talking about: we've discussed new starts by email. I do think it is inappropriate to slip in requesting what are traditionally somewhat trusted permissions without establishing yourself or accounting for the past. Best take a more granular approach. I hope this works out for you, I will not comment further on this tangent. --Raidarr (talk) 08:57, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
I don't necessarily trust you with this permission, like, at all buddy. --DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 13:34, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Is there any way I can show that I can be trusted here? Piccadilly (talk) 16:41, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Contribute as a user, keep your nose clean, and do so consistently for a long period of time. If problematic incidents are rare or nonexistent, the trust may build. --Raidarr (talk) 17:35, 17 June 2023 (UTC)

Reason: After noticing to my dismay at Miraheze about its future situation to stop operations, I already had time to think about starting my own wikifarm, but I found it too hasty a decision; and luckily I also noticed that a new farm is going to be built to replace Miraheze. I would very much like to be involved in building this and show my hard contribution to the project and help from my part so that the mistakes encountered in Miraheze are not repeated here. I wasn't a wiki creator at Miraheze, but I think it's at least initially a good way to help Wiki Tide get started by being active in wiki requests and getting familiar with them, thus giving space to the farm founders for more important work. I was a Patroller and translation administrator at Miraheze for a while, but due to my life situation at the time, I was inactive and could not continue my duties. Now the situation is different and I work with different wikis. In addition to working at Miraheze since 2019, I have done a lot of editing on Wikimedia's wikis and at one time was a patroller there as well, I have also set up my own wikis on my own domain - so there is a lot of experience with wikis. I can also answer some technical questions, and I have done this many times at Miraheze when I noticed users' questions without answers. Thank you.

Reason: Due to the current situation on Miraheze and wiki creation being disabled there, I am requesting the wiki creator right here on WikiTide. In my four months as a wiki creator on Miraheze, I've handled thousands of requests in less than 10 minutes each, and I believe I can do so here as well. I want to make it clear that I am not leaving Miraheze unless that wiki farm collapses; rather, I've noticed the slow handling time of requests here compared to Miraheze and want to help reduce it. CircleyDoesExtracter, I am curious: how are you defining "early"? --Raidarr (talk) 17:34, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
Policies are not created yet. If everything is set up for wiki-creators, I'll change the voting to a support. CircleyDoesExtracter (Talk | Global |Email) 17:39, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
Fair enough, this has been my attitude as well. --Raidarr (talk) 17:50, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
